Jac Volbeda

Graduated in 1982 having been awarded the 's-Hertogenbosch City prize for his objects, paintings, an architectural design plan and an extended essay about Land-art.

In the years since graduation Jac focused fully on his painting activities, resulting in commissions by private buyers, businesses and public sector organisations.

His paintings have been sold to many countries in Europe, America and Australia.

He moved in 2003 to the island of Baleshare, where he continued his work as an artist.

In 2006 Jac started B&B Bagh Alluin where he also exhibited his work. In 2022 he decided to retire from running his B&B.

Again and again he finds inspiration for his artwork in his immediate environment and more distant remote landscapes in Scotland.

The ever-changing landscapes and colours create evocative, expressive paintings.

The inspiration that landscapes provide him with is transferred to the canvas in a robust and expressive style. The overpowering impact of the rugged Scottish scenery as well as the intriguing Spanish landscapes are portrayed in wild vigorous gestures. However, if you examine the evocativeness of the paintings more closely, you will discover a multiplicity of shades of colour and subtle outlines.

Jac exhibited in a large number of galleries and art libraries in Holland and Great Britain and several galleries in the Netherlands have work in stock.

When Jac is not painting he enjoys long beach walks, observing local wildlife and taking trips in his boat.
